Deepglow is a short pixel-art incremental game set in a bioluminescent night.

Once, the Deepglow flowed beneath the earth like living light. Then came the Rupture. Now you wake in the Night Forest beside an old lantern, holding a shard of that light, and it is calling you home.

How it plays

  • Each night is a timed phase on an 8x8 board: trees, fruit, water and fish appear, and you click them to harvest with the right tool.
  • Watch your hunger and thirst: an empty belly weakens your hits, an empty canteen halves what you gather.
  • Between nights, spend your resources on an upgrade tree: sharper tools, longer nights, rarer finds and new tools.
  • Some choices exclude others. Choose your path.

This demo

  • The Night Forest and the Glowing Swamp, the first 2 of 6 biomes (about 20–40 minutes).
  • A narrated intro and a narrated ending when you reach the gate of the Crystal Caves.
  • English and Brazilian Portuguese, with narration in both.
  • Mouse, keyboard or gamepad.
  • Your progress is saved in the browser. A private window loses it.

Feedback wanted! This demo exists to learn how the game feels to new players. Where did you get stuck? What felt slow? How long did you play? (The end screen shows your play time.) Please leave a comment below.

About AI use
The biome backgrounds were made with Pixellab (AI-assisted pixel art) and the narration voices with ElevenLabs. The code was written with the help of Claude. HUD icons and cursors hand-drawn. The 24-color palette, the game design, the balance and the story are my own work.
